My 2026 Art Related Goals

Hello everyone! It's the time of year for fresh starts and goal setting and I'll be the first to admit that I have some lofty goals for 2026, but I do think they are obtainable if I work hard and put my mind to it. I want to really put a focus on my art this year, last year my wedding kind of took over my life and I am ready to get back to doing the things that I love and sharing that with you guys. So here are my art specific goals for this year.
I want to hit 1000 sales in my etsy shop
I am currently at 321 sales and honestly, didn't sell all that much this previous year. (However, I don't believe that is counting the items I sold in person during my first art market, so that number might be slightly misleading). But I also didn't put nearly as much time into promoting myself on my social media or paying for ads like I had done previously. I think this is a lofty goal, but totally doable if I can reach the right audiences and get myself out there.
Journaling
I want to make sure I'm journaling at least weekly throughout this year. This is definitely something I find helpful in my everyday life. I keep a bullet journal as a planner and I want to make sure I'm doing other types of journaling as well, such as moon journaling or morning pages to get the juices flowing and allow for more creativity in my life. Sometimes all you need to feel better is to get all those thoughts out of your head and onto a sheet of paper. I've seen a ton of junk journaling going around on TikTok and I also like this mini scapbook-like type of journaling. I often will take a page in the bullet journal to do that type of thing, so I would love to incorporate more of that this year. Journaling will also a good way to keep track of these goals and see how far I've come with them.
Work through The Artist's Way by Julia Cameron Book
This is a book I'm constantly seeing recommended to artists and has changed the lives of many artists and that many people seem to hate, so I am really excited to finally have my hands on it and to form my own opinions on the matter. The idea is you follow a 12 step process that will help with your creativity and artistic endeavors. Many people seem to dislike the author's suggestions and feel it's coming from a place of privilege. Others have found the steps she provides helped them make their artwork a priority and helped them find consistency with creating. So we'll see where I fall on the spectrum.
Illustrate a Tarot deck
This is something I have been wanting to work on since I made my 12 zodiac signs art prints. I love seeing different artists interpretations of the classic tarot decks, so really want to put a lot of research, reflection, and my own personal touch into something that can be used daily by many. This is a big project though, so even if I just start it this year I'll be happy. I want it to be perfect, not something that I rush to finish just to say I achieved this goal in 2026.
Crochet 5 big projects
I have really been enjoying crochet the past couple of years since doing the Woobles advent calendar several years ago. Last year I mainly only worked on my temperature blanket. So this year I want to challenge myself to work on 5 relatively big projects. Some things I really want to do are car seat covers, a beach cover up, and maybe even a book blanket since I want to read 100 books this year.
Make and sell sticker books
Something I really want to do to add to my shop is sticker books! These are books where the pages are essentially made out of the sticker backing paper, this way you can put all your stickers in one place to store them instead of them being all over the place. And if you can't decide where to stick them, you have a safe storage place to keep them in until you're ready to commit to where to put them. This is something I desperately need, so that's usually a good sign that other people will want one too.
Use Up Supplies I Currently Have
I have been getting bombarded by project pan videos on my TikTok feed lately. This usually pertains to beauty/skincare products and trying to use up everything you have before purchasing more things. But I really want to apply it to my art supplies. Specifically, the yarn that is slowly taking over the storage space under my bed and couch. I really want to try to use what I have not only to save money, but to get my space back, lol.
So those are the big goals I have art wise for the year ahead. Again, some are much easier to obtain than others, but I think this will be a good way to hold myself accountable for these too.
